In this shorter belt making course you will be guided through the process of making a fully functional belt made from British produced leather. You will be provided with a choice of colours of leather in advance of the course and will choose your buckle, keeper and thread colour on the day. You can choose to make a 1” or 1 ¼“ width belt.
You will learn to measure for a belt and then using the belt strip provided you will cut this to your correct size. We will then guide you through the steps and stages in creating your belt, including, preparing the leather strip and hand stitching the buckle and keeper.
Please note that in order to be able to complete your belt in the 3 hours we will use some pre-prepared components. There will still be plenty of opportunity for you to practice however.
In this wallet making course you will make a simple, yet stylish wrap wallet from British produced leather. You will be able to choose from a selection of different leather on the day and can pick a complementary or contrasting thread colour. The choice is yours!
You will be taught how to transfer a pattern onto the leather. You will then cut out the templated pieces and we will then guide you through the processes involved in assembling your wallet. Finally, you will complete the wallet with some traditional saddle stitching.
In this detailed course you will develop your skills in belt making and have the opportunity to create a handmade, saddle stitched belt. This course is more comprehensive than the 3-hour introductory course and will allow you to explore the many steps involved when creating a luxury belt. This includes hot creasing, edge finishing and decorative stitching.
You will be provided with a choice of colours of leather in advance of the course and will choose your buckle, keeper and thread colour on the day. You can choose to make a 1” or 1 ¼“ width belt.
This full day course allows you more time to practice your skills and work on your belt. If you do not manage to complete any decorative stitching, please don’t worry! We provide a handy handout with hints and tips, and you will take away saddler’s needles and thread to complete your project at home.
